A Lake Forest car accident prompted authorities to arrest a 20-year-old man for suspicion of drunk driving after the motorist emerged from a crashed car holding a 12-pack of beer. Police arrived at the scene of the accident near Serrano Road and Lake Vista after a 911 call came in at around 12:18 a.m. The caller indicated that a 4-door black Nissan had crashed into a power box and stated that a few people had poured from the car with one of them holding a 12-pack. By the time cops had arrived, the occupants of the destroyed vehicle were trying to dislodge the car from the power box. Driver Robert Ghear of Lake Forest was then given a field sobriety test and subsequently taken to the Orange County jail where he was booked under suspicion of DUI.

23-year-old Woman Killed after Slamming into Pole

A car accident in San Diego this morning resulted in the death of a woman who may have been a military officer. The incident occurred at 5:45 a.m. in the Torrey Highlands area when the 23-year old’s car drifted off State route 56, overturned and tumbled down an ice plant covered embankment. 33-year-old Gustavo Garcia was killed 6:50 am Thursday morning after a tractor-trailer overturned on a North County freeway interchange crushing the sedan he was driving. One-year-old Hit and Dragged up Redondo Ave. in Long Beach

A one-year-old girl was struck and killed by an Dodge Durango SUV in Long Beach late Friday night and was dragged nearly a mile down Redondo Avenue before the driver finally stopped. SUV driver Neely Dinkins, 33, was charged with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, driving under the influence, hit and run and driving with a suspended license. His bail has been set at $50,000 dollars. Another child was also critically injured after being hit by the SUV at about 8:30 p.m. Friday. Both children were struck at 10th Street and Redondo Avenue and one was dragged several blocks to the intersection of Redondo and Wilton Street. That child was declared dead at the scene.

In Newport Beach today a repeat DUI offender was denied a plea bargain in a vehicular homicide case involving Charles David Lewis Jr., one of the founders of the clothing company TapouT. Lewis Jr., a famed mixed martial art entrepreneur, was killed in March after defendant Jeffery David Kirby hit the victims’ Ferrari with his own 1977 Porsche on Jamboree Road in Newport Beach. 51-year-old Kirby claimed that Lewis was speeding and contributed to his own demise but an Orange County Judge was not buying it. Although Kirby and Lewis had been racing, Kirby was said to have a blood alcohol level of .13 a few hours after the crash. He also had previous drunk driving convictions.

Lewis, who called himself “Mask” died almost instantly when the Porsche lost control struck the Lewis’s vehicle. The Ferrari was then torn into three pieces after jumping a curb and ramming a cement light pole. Lacy Lynn White, Lewis girlfriend, was seriously injured after being ejected from the Ferrari. She suffered a broken vertebrae, hip and shattered elbow.

100 Foot Canyon Plunge Leaves South Gate Man Dead

A car accident in the Castaic region left one man dead after he plunged to his death by careening off a canyon.
