Proctor and Gamble, a Cincinnati based company, voluntarily alerted the proper authorities in  the United States, Germany and the Untied Kingdom, where three lots of the spray had been sent.

Prior to the accident, Baron L.  Mahrling was driving eastbound in his gold 1996 Chevrolet Silverado in Ellis Avenue at approximately 1:45 p.m.   For unknown reasons, he accelerated and charged into opposing traffic west of Bushard Street.  Mahrling then struck a black 1998 Nissan Frontier truck causing minor injury to 31-year-old Todd B. Gruca.  The Silverado continued on across the street, jumped a curb and slammed into a power pole and brick wall.   The man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

The incident occurred at 5:45 a.m. in the Torrey Highlands area when the 23-year old’s car drifted off State route 56, overturned and tumbled down an ice plant covered embankment. The crash occurred this morning on the southbound 133 freeway and Barranca Parkway and caused the pole to fall over and expose internal wiring.  At least one person was trapped inside the car and an ambulance was called.  Head injury was also reported but the extent of injury was not confirmed at press time.  The Barranca off-ramp had to be closed to clear the accident.

The fire, which evidently caused massive property damage, started after the homeowner put down 16 bug bombs in an area of the trailer home. The fumes from the bug bombs were accidentally ignited by an unknown source. Firefighters reported to the scene after the homeowner’s failed attempt to battle the fire with a garden hose, suffering a minor hand injury in the process. The homeowner was treated at the scene of the fire. The trailer home property damage is estimated at 30,000, according to fire officials.
