Some 120,o0o bottles of Vicks Sinex nasal spray was recalled after the company discovered B. cepacia bacteria in primary test batches. The bacteria can cause illness in people with lung problems
or weakened immune systems.

Proctor and Gamble, a Cincinnati based company, voluntarily alerted the proper authorities in the United States, Germany and the Untied Kingdom, where three lots of the spray had been sent.

Speeding Causes Head on Collision in Fountain Valley

An Huntington Beach resident sustained serious injury Wednesday afternoon after a head on collision in Fountain Valley. Authorities speculate that the 62-year-old man was speeding prior to veering into opposing traffic and slamming into a pick-up truck. Prior to the accident, Baron L. Mahrling was driving eastbound in his gold 1996 Chevrolet Silverado in Ellis Avenue at approximately 1:45 p.m. For unknown reasons, he accelerated and charged into opposing traffic west of Bushard Street. Mahrling then struck a black 1998 Nissan Frontier truck causing minor injury to 31-year-old Todd B. Gruca. The Silverado continued on across the street, jumped a curb and slammed into a power pole and brick wall. The man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

23-year-old Woman Killed after Slamming into Pole

A car accident in San Diego this morning resulted in the death of a woman who may have been a military officer. The incident occurred at 5:45 a.m. in the Torrey Highlands area when the 23-year old’s car drifted off State route 56, overturned and tumbled down an ice plant covered embankment. The driver was a San Diego resident whose name is being withheld pending notification of family. She died shortly after the crash, which occurred on the westbound of the freeway near Camino del Sur. Smart Car Crashes into Light Pole in Irvine

At approximately 9:41 a.m. a reported smart car convertible crashed into alight pole in Irvine. The crash occurred this morning on the southbound 133 freeway and Barranca Parkway and caused the pole to fall over and expose internal wiring. At least one person was trapped inside the car and an ambulance was called. Head injury was also reported but the extent of injury was not confirmed at press time. The Barranca off-ramp had to be closed to clear the accident.

100 Foot Canyon Plunge Leaves South Gate Man Dead

A car accident in the Castaic region left one man dead after he plunged to his death by careening off a canyon. The man, who was driving a Los Angeles Country van, fell 100 feet to his death and was identified this past Saturday by a coroner’s investigator. He was 63-year-old Francisco Ramon Diaz, a resident of the South Gate area who had been driving west on Lake Hughes Road just due east of Ridge Route Road at around 10:50 a.m. Friday morning when he lost control of his Chevy Astro. Having strayed into the Angeles National forest, he could not navigate his vehicle and drove off the road.

Diaz’s vehicle was marked “ISD Mail Services”, ISD stands for the “Internal Services Division” in Los Angeles County. The cause of the crash is currently undergoing investigation.

Laguna Woods Fire causes $220, 000 Dollars in Damages

A fire that may have started on the fourth floor of the Towers at Laguna Woods Village caused an estimated $220, 000 dollars worth of property damage. Although the fire itself created most of the devastating destruction, great bit of it was also caused by the water that was used to douse the blaze.
