At around 9 a.m., the motorcyclist smashed into the rear of the CHP vehicle on Interstate 5 in San Diego.

Authorities report that the CHP vehicle was parked in the median of the northbound lanes of Interstate 5, just before Sassafras Street. The motorcyclist, for unknown reasons, drove off into the car, which was unoccupied at the time.

As of now, the rider has been hospitalized at a local hospital. It is unknown the extent of the motorcyclist’s injuries.

The pedestrian, who remains unidentified, was the only person injured in the car accident.

Initially, the pedestrian was traveling down the road in the bicycle lane on Pershing Drive. Without warning, he ran from the bicycle lane into the street towards the vehicles traveling on Florida Drive. So far, the reason for this sudden dangerous movement remains unknown.

As one Lexus sedan saw him enter the road, it made an attempt to swerve away but did so unsuccessfully. The pedestrian was struck and flipped up onto the the Lexus’s hood, and then fell down to the road moments later.

An emergency medical team arrived at the scene but was unable to revive him in time. The pedestrian died on the scene.

At around 10:40 in the morning, a car identified as a 1992 Infiniti J-30 crashed into them on the shoulder. The driver, a 50-year-old San Diego woman, stated that she hadn’t been paying attention at the time, and was instead looking for change.

The first of the two injured, a county probation worker, was just one of three workers who had been assigned to pick up trash on the side of SR-15. As the three men performed their work, a van containing a CalsTran worker followed in close proximity to alert traffic of the probation workers. Another CalsTran worker involved was in charge of the injured worker and two others, and was outside of the van when the woman veered towards the shoulder.

After not noticing what was happening, the woman landed into the back of the van and, in an apparently failed effort to avoid further damage, veered left and ended on the shoulder, where the Calstran worker and the probation worker stood. Both were hospitalized after the highway accident with what were called “serious” injuries.

The possible slip and fall accident, which is reported to have occured around 1:30 in the 12700 block of Carmel Country Road, caused the head injury which included bleeding from the back of the police officer’s head. The police officer was escorted to Scripps Memorial Hospital following the accident, but no additional information has been provided regarding the status of his illnesses. It is also unknown what caused this possible slip and fall accident that lead to the police officer’s head injury.

The construction accident occurred at the 3700 block of Hemlock street just before noon, when the 36-year-old construction worker fell 25 feet from the roof of the damaged building, suffering injury. After being unconscious foe a small period of time, the man was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, authorities said.
