Less than a week after a pitbull attack in Concord killed a 2-year-old boy, another toddler has died from dog bite injuries, this time in San Diego. The toddler who died from the recent dog bite injuries was also a 2-year-old.
The 2-year-old boy was attacked on Saturday by his family’s dog at their residence on San Diego military housing base. The boy was upstairs in a bedroom, accompanied by one or more of his siblings, whose ages range between 3 and 7 years old. Their mother was downstairs during the family dog attack, and their father, a serviceman, is currently deployed.
Preceding the dog attack, for the six months that the family has owned the dog, there reportedly were no problems. The dog is a shepherd mix that is 1 and ½ years old.

A woman crossing the street in Escondido was hit by a car late in the day on Saturday, authorities said. She died in a hospital on Sunday while receiving treatment for injuries received in the pedestrian accident.
The woman had been drinking before she was struck by the car on Broadway Street in San Diego. At around 8:50 p.m., a car hit her as she crossed Broadway Street near where it intersects with East Park Avenue. The car was a Honda Civic headed northbound, driven by a 41-year-old driver, who was neither drinking nor otherwise under the influence when the pedestrian accident occurred.
The 55-year-old woman was taken to a hospital late on Saturday night, but died only hours later, early on Sunday morning.

An El Cajon crash on State Route 67 in San Diego ended fatally for one man, a pedestrian, on Sunday morning. The crash was a hit and run, and is currently under investigation by local police.
At around 3:33 in the morning, CHP received reports that a man was spotted running across highway SR 67 through the northbound lanes in the direction of the southbound lanes. Only minutes after those reports came in, the man was struck and killed by a car. The name of the man who was hit has not yet been released.
The driver of the car, which was gray in color and missing one of its mirrors, left the scene of the pedestrian accident. Police are currently searching for the driver, and shut down the road for several hours while investigating.

A pedestrian was killed in San Diego’s Balboa Park today after he ran into the street in the path of traffic and was struck by an oncoming car. The pedestrian, who remains unidentified, was the only person injured in the car accident.
Initially, the pedestrian was traveling down the road in the bicycle lane on Pershing Drive. Without warning, he ran from the bicycle lane into the street towards the vehicles traveling on Florida Drive. So far, the reason for this sudden dangerous movement remains unknown.
As one Lexus sedan saw him enter the road, it made an attempt to swerve away but did so unsuccessfully. The pedestrian was struck and flipped up onto the the Lexus’s hood, and then fell down to the road moments later.
An emergency medical team arrived at the scene but was unable to revive him in time. The pedestrian died on the scene.

An Escondido truck accident trapped and killed an 18-year-old in her car on Friday evening, when she and a pickup truck crashed into one another at a downtown intersection. The teenager was making a left turn into traffic when she was hit by the pickup truck.
The truck accident took place at one of Escondido’s busy intersections, at Escondido Boulevard and Center City Parkway. The teenage girl was headed westbound and made the turn onto Center City Parkway, and was then hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction. The time of the accident was around 9 p.m., authorities reported.
The car driven by the teenager contained one passenger, a 16-year-old male, who was injured but survived the crash. The driver of the pickup truck, who is 37, was also injured in the accident.

A worker was killed on Tuesday when he became entangled in an industrial composting machine at a nursery in Oceanside, authorities said. The worker was identified as 56-year-old Manuel Moreno of Valley Center.
The fatal worker accident took place at a nursery in Oceanside, a facility known as the Evergreen Nursery, which is located on the 3200 block on Oceanside Boulevard. The worker accident took place at 9 a.m. when Moreno tried to jump from the machine to the seat of an industrial composting vehicle he was driving. In doing so, he fell.
After Moreno fell, his arm became entangled and the machine pulled him in. The machine then snared Moreno in such a way that it was impossible for him breathe, causing his death.

On Tuesday morning, a suspected drunk driver ran into a home in San Diego, says authorities. The site of the SUV accident was a condo in the College Area.
At around 1:45 in the morning, the SUV crashed into the condo located near Collwood Boulevard and Montezuma Road. Although the crash did cause property damage, none of the residents in the home were injured in the accident. There was at least one person home at the time of the accident, though.
The man who drove the SUV into the condo has been arrested by police as a suspected drunk driver.

A car accident in Jamul has reportedly killed at least one, authorities have reported. The car accident took place around 1:00 in the morning on Friday, on the north side of the city.
The crash involved either two or three vehicles, according to conflicting reports. The vehicles were driving on Skyline Truck Trail when they crashed into one another, near the intersection with Hidden Trail Drive. As of yet, none of the drivers have been determined to be at fault.
The true cause of the accident, perhaps, was a coyote that ventured onto the road. One of the drivers claims to have swerved from his lane to avoid hitting a coyote, causing the car behind him to forcefully apply his brakes and hit a third car.
The driver who slammed his brakes was ejected from his vehicle, but died before paramedics arrived at the scene. It is unknown if other injuries were involved in the Jamul car accident.

A single vehicle rollover accident involving just one car in East County resulted in one death and an injury, authorities reported. The crash took place on Interstate 8 on Saturday, around midday.
At 10:10 a.m., a car traveling on the freeway near Crestwood crossed over the middle of the road, hitting the divide. The car then began to rollover, which it did multiple times. Inside the car were a 15-year-old girl of El Centro and her mother, who was driving the vehicle.
The mother reports hearing a pop inside the vehicle before the vehicle began driving wildly.
The 15-year-old girl died in the accident. She was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency personnel who reported to Interstate 8. Her mother was taken to a hospital for treatment of undescribed injuries.

A toddler aged three was the unfortunate victim of a car accident on Friday when a car coming down his road hit him while crossing the street. A 19-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run after leaving the scene of the accident but later returning.
The 3-year old was with his older brother when he was hit, walking through his San Diego neighborhood hoping to find a lost dog. The older brother warned the 3-year-old not to cross the street with him, but he did anyway. Reportedly, the older brother heard a thump and then found his brother down in the middle of the street. The car, a green sedan driven by a 19-year-old, had also fled away from the scene.
Relatives of the toddler who had been hit picked him up from the street and took him to the driveway of their San Diego home. There, they attempted to revive him as emergency officials came to the scene. He was later taken to the hospital where he died of the injuries he received in the car accident.
The 19-year-old returned to the scene of the car accident after first going to a nearby gas station. Police arrested him on suspision of felony hit-and-run, but it is not belived that speeding or DUI was a factor.
