Drunk Driver Crashes SUV into Home

On Tuesday morning, a suspected drunk driver ran into a home in San Diego, says authorities. The site of the SUV accident was a condo in the College Area.

At around 1:45 in the morning, the SUV crashed into the condo located near Collwood Boulevard and Montezuma Road. Although the crash did cause property damage, none of the residents in the home were injured in the accident. There was at least one person home at the time of the accident, though.

The man who drove the SUV into the condo has been arrested by police as a suspected drunk driver.

Overturned Tanker Explodes in San Diego

A tanker truck overturned and exploded in a region of San Diego known as Otay Mesa last night. According to reports, smoke rose from the tanker for hours following the explosion.

The tanker truck, operated by ARCO gasoline, was holding two tanks as it progressed down the road just before 5:45 pm. While trying to make a wide turn, the tanker partially overturned, the back tank flipping over though the front was unaffected. Witnesses report that the driver exited the vehicle quickly, attacking the flame using a fire extinguisher.

Firefighters responded to the scene of the overturned tanker soon after, but were still dealing with the effects of the fire hours later. For environmental reasons, the firefighters did not use water to extinguish the fire. Instead, they waited until the flames wore down naturally, a process that took until 7 p.m. Even after that, firefighters remained on scene to ensure that the fuel tanks did not re-ignite.

Neither the driver nor the firefighters were injured in the overturned tanker explosion. However, several local businesses and residences were forced to evacuate for safety reasons. In addition, property damage took place on the road and sidewalk surrounding the explosion.

Evacuation Necessary In San Diego Apartment Fire

Multiple residents were evacuated when a fire ignited in the generator room of an apartment complex. In the four-story building, known as Archstone Presidio View, the fire began for unreported reasons on the first floor at around 9:07. San Diego fire rescue officials were called to the scene, extinguishing the fire in half an hour. Evacuations took place as the fire progressed, though it was unclear whether residents were let back in after the fire has extinguished. Car Crashes into Art Studio after Driver is Startled by Spider

In Newport Beach Wednesday morning a 2003 Mercedes Benz C240 crashed into art studio after the woman driving the car was started by a spider. The accident occurred at 8:40 a.m. and thankfully no one was hurt. The female motorist had been parking in the alley behind the Studio Workshop at 416 31 St., when the spider dropped down in front of her and caused her to hit the gas. She then crashed through the French Doors of the business.

The man that was standing inside the studio at the time remained unharmed as he was standing behind a table at the time of the collision.

Escondido House Fire Called Suspicious

A fire that blazed a home in Escondido has been deemed suspicious by the firefighters who battled its flames, an official reported. The fire was reported at 1:35 am at a location south of East Mission Avenue on Ash Street. When firefighters responded to the call, they found significant flames in the home, especially in the garage and kitchen. Firefighters contained the fire quickly, but were suspicious as its cause could not be found.

According to a fire official, there was no indication of an electrical problem, carelessness, or other cause. Swat Team Surround Barricaded Arson Suspect

SWAT was called into the Loz Feliz area in response to a man who was suspected of setting several fires in LA. Fire Lights Up Torrey Pines

A fire that took place in Torrey Pines this morning fortunately caused no injuries. The brush fire sparked within Torrey Pines Park for unknown reasons, scorching up to two acres in the State Reserve just after 1 pm. San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded to the fire on Tuesday, and were able to control the flames in under 20 minutes. Trabuco Canyon Home Bursts into Flames—Cause Unknown

An unoccupied Trabuco canyon home caught on fire and today and was so immense that it took fifty firefighters to extinguish the flames. A neighbor on Chisholm Trail called firefighters just after noon after seeing smoke rising from the home. When the fire fighters arrived at the house the blaze had completely engulfed it and fire could be seen through several of the home’s windows. The blaze was eventually brought under control by 1 p.m. but not before the house sustained heavy damage. Home owner George Arnott said that no one was home when the fire broke out. A neighboring home was also damaged by the fire but only slightly.

No one knows what caused the blaze, although the rear of the home sustained the most damage. Once investigators are able to determine the cause the homeowner may be able to trace the destruction to an individual or company that could be accountable for the damage.
