3 Vehicle Crash Injures 2 Motorists in Tustin

23-year-old Woman Killed after Slamming into Pole

Smart Car Crashes into Light Pole in Irvine

At approximately 9:41 a.m. a reported smart car convertible crashed into alight pole in Irvine. The crash occurred this morning on the southbound 133 freeway and Barranca Parkway and caused the pole to fall over and expose internal wiring. Stuck Accelerator Pushes Car Over Embankment, Killing 4 Near San Diego

When its accelerator apparently became stuck, a car containing 4 people crashed into several objects, finally landing in the San Diego river where it became engulfed in flames. Shortly prior to the accident, a passenger believed to be the driver’s wife made a desperation call to local police, explaining that their accelerator had become stuck. A witness reported that the car was headed down hill, continuing down a road at an estimated 100 mph. Evidently, the driver was not able to stop the car, and ended up crashing into an SUV. The car then continued through a fence, into an embankment, and then rolled over multiple times. Finally landing in the river, the car burst into flames, leaving no survivors from its 4 occupants.

The male driver involved in the accident was later found to be an off-duty CHP officer, Saylor, accompanied in the Lexus by his wife and kids. The driver of the SUV was taken in with moderate injuries.
