15 Injured, 3 Dead In San Diego Cal Baptist Car Accident

15 total people were injured in a car accident that claimed the lives of three people in San Diego on Monday. A collision between two vehicles, an SUV and van, ended in a fiery mess that beckoned paramedics and fire officials to the scene of the accident.
On Tuesday, the victims of the crash were identified as current and former members of cross country teams at the California Baptist University and Cathedral Catholic High School. According to reports, the van containing the Cal Baptist University students was on its way to a camp in Mammoth, where the team was to embark on training efforts for the year. The SUV contained two young women, recent graduates and former athletes of Cathedral Catholic High School of San Diego.
Cal Baptist cross country coach Wendy Rice was driving the van when the SUV driven by the young women rolled over the median into opposing traffic, into the path of the van. The two women from the SUV, as well as Cal Baptist Coach Rice, died tragically in the accident. 11 of the student athletes in the Cal Baptist van were also injured, and taken to local hospitals for treatment, along with another occupant of the SUV.
