2-year-old Boy Struck by Car Declared Brain Dead

A San Diego car accident involving a 2-year-old boy has left the toddler brain dead. Victim Christopher Chavez was struck by a mini Cooper around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday at the 3300 block of Idlewild Way in Clairemont Tuesday evening and was taken to a Rady’s children’s Hospital. The child is currently on life support pending organ donation. He was declared brain dead Thursday at 12:35 p.m. The child was struck by the car after darting into traffic.
