Van Explodes At Harbor Drive In San Diego

When a propane tank blew up within a van on Tuesday, a car accident and significant delays were the unfortunate result. At around 11 on Tuesday morning, a van carrying a propane tank on Harbor drive exploded and then hit a truck going the opposite way, causing a head-on accident. By some miraculous happening, no injuries resulted from the collision. Although the driver could have been in harm’s way, he was able to jump from the van, ensuring his safety. It was actually when the man jumped from the van that the crash occurred, as a result of the car being left in gear, but without a driver. The other driver escaped uninjured as well.
It was later determined that the cargo that exploded was a natural gas cylinder. Also, the truck involved was identified as a Ford F-15- pickup. According to witnesses, the explosion was felt in a building less than 100 yards away, the National Police Headquarters office. Officials were forced to shut down the area surrounding the incident to examine the explosion.
