Two solo car accidents in the Long Beach area occurred on the same day and resulted in fatalities. The first accident happened at 2 a.m. early Friday morning near Davies Bridge over Appian Way. It involved 27-year-old Humberto Sanchez of Downey. The Man had been driving eastbound on 2nd street when his gray 2001 Lincoln veered off the bridge, broke through the guardrails and dropped 50 feet to the street below. Sanchez was instantly killed by the force of the impact.
2 hours later, at around 4 a.m. police responded to another traffic accident at West Pacific Coast Highway near Caspian Avenue in West Long Beach. This time, the victim was a 23-year-old male victim who had been traveling west on the PCH. He was driving a green 1995 Ford Mustang when he veered right and struck a street pole. The young man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are still investigating both incidents.
