One Killed After Cement Truck Accident In Escondido

A crash that transpired between a pickup truck and cement truck has killed a South Bay man, according to reports from the CHP. Over the weekend, the 32-year-old South Bay man was driving on an Escondido highway when he collided head-on with an oncoming cement truck. The truck crash, reported at 11:50 am on Saturday, left Jose Acosta Alvarez with injuries that ended fatal 15 minutes later. Acosta-Alvarez was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle when, for reasons unknown, he drove over the center of the road into the path of the truck. Authorities arrived at the scene of the accident and pronounced the man dead, with investigation still to come. Resulting from the collision, the crash sparked a fire between the two vehicles. Although no other injuries were reported, the highway remained closed for up to three hours after the truck crash.
