Man Rescued After Slip and Fall In Torrey Pines, San Diego
Aug 13th, 2009 by RichmondJ
Though a barricade was in place, a man in San Diego decided to enter a hazardous area of Torrey Pines Glideport, at Black Beach, becoming trapped in the cliffs. According to reports, the man was one in a group that were watching the meteor show on Wednesday. In a likely attempt to get a better view, the man ventured past an area that was roped off. Entering the area, the man slipped and fell onto the cliffs 100 feet below. When the man’s two friends called authorities, firefighters arrived at the scene, rescuing the man within 45 minutes of the slip and fall.
According to the fire department, helicopters were brought in first, but were unsuccessful in two attempts because of cloud cover. As a result, the fire department ended up sending down a rescuer to bring the fallen man back up. The man was rescued safely, without any injuries, but it was said he could have easily been injured in a worse scenario. The rescue crews reminded the man of the type of danger his unwise actions presented, but no charges were filed.
