Aug 4th, 2009 by RichmondJ
A truck traveling on Interstate 5 spilled a significant amount of diesel on a section of the highway in Encinitas. According to CHP, the accident caused a traffic alert to arise in that area when the spill took place on Tuesday morning. Some of the fuel was removed via a storm drain, but crews were needed to handle the unspecified amount that remained on the highway. Crews from CalTrans used sand toi treat the road until 11 am, 2 hours after the actual spill took place. The incident presented some clearly unsafe conditions, but fortunately, no injuries were reported from the accident.
