A young skateboarded aged 13 was injured after being hit by an SUV while crossing an intersection, authorities said. At around 11:06, the boy was hit while riding east through an intersection at Encinitas Boulevard and El Camino Real. The boy was wearing dark clothing late at night, making it difficult for him to be spotted, and contributing to the accident that occurred. It remains unclear when, but at some point during crossing, the teen faced a red light while still on the crosswalk. The car approaching the intersection failed to see the skateboarder and was unable to stop in time, striking him. After the accident, the unnamed 13-year-old was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
