It was reported Monday morning that a boy had been hospitalized after he was hit by a watercraft. The unnamed boy, 14, was riding on an inner tube at facilities in Mission Bay. At around 4:15, while the boy was riding, he was struck by another watercraft that was traveling in the waters. The boy fell face first in an area of the bay usually restricted for water-skiing. According to reports from San Diego Lifeguard Services, this accident was not isolated, but was 1 among 11 others that were responded to by lifeguards that day.
