The woman who was killed on U.S. Highway 395 Monday evening has been identified as 26-year-old Jessica Blass. Blass was traveling southbound on 395 in a white Toyota Yaris at around 8 p.m. when she crossed the center divider and crashed head-on into a Dodge Dakota pick up truck. The Dodge driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but the motorist’s condition and identity are not known. Jessica Blass was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation as to the cause of the crash is ongoing.
There are many reasons why Jessica Blass could have suddenly crossed the center divider and rammed into another vehicle. She could have blacked out, grew ill or even fallen asleep. Another explanation could be that the car malfunctioned due to a defective auto part and the frantic Jessica could no longer control her own vehicle. It is safe not to assume the reason behind any car accident until the facts come in. If an investigating finds that a faulty auto part is the culprit, Blass surviving family members could sue under product liability laws.
