Pedicab Driver Under Investigation for Customer Death
Jul 13th, 2009 by ANorman
The driver of a Pedicab that killed a 63-year-old school teacher was released from jail today without official charges being filed, however, the incident remains under investigation. 23-year-old Turkish National, Sukru Safa Cinar was released on Thursday, however San Diego officials vowed to get to the bottom of the accident and stated that charges may yet be filed.
The investigation centers on a July 4th accident where visiting teacher, Sharon Miller, was killed after falling out of the Pedicab. The woman had come to town for an educational conference and had decided to take a Pedicab aroudn town but tumbled out and struck her head on the ground. Witnesses say Cinar was operating the Pedicab in an erratic and unsafe manner, was located in an area restricted to Pedicab and did not have the seatbelts that are required by city ordinance.
Indeed, if all the above is proven to be true, the driver of the Pedicab is grossly at fault for the woman’s injury and subsequent death. City ordinance and laws are made to protect the public. When they are disregarded, rule breakers become criminally negligent. If you or someone you love had been injured in a similar Pedicab incident, contact our law offices for a free consultation.
