Laguna Woods Fire causes $220, 000 Dollars in Damages

A fire that may have started on the fourth floor of the Towers at Laguna Woods Village caused an estimated $220, 000 dollars worth of property damage. Although the fire itself created most of the devastating destruction, great bit of it was also caused by the water that was used to douse the blaze. A preliminary inspection of the damage to the multistory building was originally estimated at only $30, 000 dollars worth or repairs. Subsequent checks of the structure indicated that the cost associated with repair were much higher at a little over $220,000 when water damage to the fourth and lower level floors were factored in.
No injuries were reported although it took nearly 60 firefighters to put out the blaze. The fire was reported at 12:40 at 24055 Paseo del Lago West Wednesday evening. Officials say that a microwave could have caused the fire although the incident is still under investigation.
