A fire that raged through the kitchen of a Mission Beach club was the culprit in up to 2 million dollars in property damages. The fire caused no injuries, even though it was packed at the time the accident occurred. The fire began in an exhaust vent within the kitchen after grease was left in the vent. According to the owner, all patrons of the club were cleared after the fire began. The fire initially was limited to the exhaust vent where it began, but expanded considerably with the time. The fire “got hotter and spread,” said Leitstein, owner of the club. The fire was extinguished by San Diego fire officials in 15 minutes, though damages were still quite extensive. The property damage ranges from the structure, including the walls and roofs, to the contents of the nightspot as well. The property damages was reportedly totaled at 2 million dollars, said San Diego fire officials.
