The passenger of a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban was ejected from the vehicle after it struck a tree. He suffered head injuries and later died at a local area hospital. The accident occurred near the 600 block of South Standard Avenue at approximately 1 a.m. in Santa Ana. The 28-year-old man was not wearing a seatbelt and was forcefully ejected after the Suburban hit a tree and turned over. He was taken to Western Medical Center where he later died. Santa Ana police are still looking for the driver who fled the scene on foot after the accident while a second unidentified passenger was pulled from the front seat by a passerby.
Witnesses say the vehicle was speeding around a curve when the driver lost control. The SUV then overturned and landed on its side in an elementary school parking lot.
Of course, if it is found that the driver was indeed driving recklessly he will be responsible for the young man’s death. Family members will then be more than entitled to file a wrongful death lawsuit against him. If you have lost a loved one in a similar tragedy you may also benefit from wrongful death litigation.
