Sacramento Construction worker struck in fatal accident

According to authorities from California Highway Patrol, a woman driving a Pontiac sped through a work zone, striking and killing a 49-year-old construction worker and then proceeding to hit a parked truck and trailer. The construction worker, a male, Arnoldo Placencia, was involved in the repair of a Sacramento County road when the accident occurred.
During the fatal accident, which occurred at at about 1:20 p.m., Placencia was accompanied by two other workers also commissioned to repair the road. Michael A. Lewis, one of these workers, suffered injuries to head, and required treatment for these injuries, authorizes said.
The accident also ended fatal for the driver, a Nancy Richards of Sacramento, who died in the crash. According to authorities, Richards smelled of alcohol following the crash. Investigation regarding the involvement of alcohol in the fatal accident continues.
