I-5 and SR-78 Traffic Jam Caused By Truck Accident in Carlsbad

A new report has just confirmed that the recent I-5 traffic jam was caused by a crash between two big rig trucks in Carlsbad. The truck accident happened just before 7:30 near Tamerack Avenue, apparently causing traffic issues for southbound I-5 and westbound SR-78.
The truck accident in Carlsbad involved a moving truck and a semi-trailer truck that was at a standstill the shoulder of the highway. According to reports, the driver of the moving truck had fallen asleep when he crashed into the stationary semi-trailer truck. As a result of the accident, three people were injured, including a passenger who was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital via airlift. No reports have been made regarding the others injured in the truck accident. The traffic jam is ongoing, and is currently affecting southbound I-5 and westbound SR-78 with a traffic jam.
