Death in Pickup Truck Accident

A Vista woman, Shannon Maureen Mahoney, was passenger in a pickup truck traveling through San Diego county when she be came victim to a fatal crash. Mahoney was not unaccompanied in the car, which was driven by Charles Lemay, 27, of Oceanside. While driving down State Route 78 in San Diego County, Lemay reportedly swerved suddenly, driving off the freeway and then overturning several times. During the pickup truck accident, Mahoney, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the pickup truck.
Mahoney died on the scene and Lemay suffered moderate injuries, authorities said. However, police suspect that the pickup truck accident may have been more than a simple mishap. The driver, Lemay, is currently is custody in the Vista Detention Facility for possible charges of manslaughter with gross negligence.
